History:

Jerry Moore Field is the home field of the Harding University Bison of the NCAA D2 Gulf South Conference.

The field is located on campus at Harding in Searcy, AR and is named after Jerry Reese Moore, a Harding baseball player who was killed in a airplane crash on February 18th, 1978. A monument in his honor is located outside the park.

Jerry Moore Field opened on April 4th during the 1981 season, replacing Berryhill Park, an off-campus field in Searcy. It was dedicated the same day. Since then, the ballpark has undergone numerous renovations, turning it into one of the best collegiate baseball fields in the state.

Renovations began in 1999 when the playing field was releveled and resoded. In 2000, a new outfield wall and scoreboard were added. After the 2003 season, a new grandstand, known as the “Watts Family Grandstand” was added behind homeplate.

The field stands today featuring 311 chair-back seats with room for about 75 lawnchair and wheelchair seats. 105 of the seats are covered by roofing over the middle of the grandstand. Atop the grandstand is the press box and below are concession and restrooms. Dimensions are 322-388-322.

Jerry Moore Field is definitely one of the best amateur ballparks in Arkansas and will likely be here to stay for a while.
