2. A view of the grandstand.
Located in Newport, AR, Clay Curtner Field at George Kell Park is the home field of the Newport Greyhounds high school baseball team, as well as the Newport American Legion. The field is named after Clay Curtner, a director of the American Legion program, and George Kell, Hall of Fame baseball player from the Newport area.
3. The scoreboard in right field.
Generally, the park is sub-par to average, with unimpressive field conditions, backstop and batters’ eye. However, what sets the park aside as special is the quaint grandstand, built in 2000. Small but charming, the grandstand features a press box and 98 covered chairback seats. In addition, the park also has seating for approximately 75 in bleachers, and a fine scoreboard in right field.
